Tell me about yourself seems to be an open ended question, you feel like talking about anything in general, but that’s wrong. Here is another tough question, what is your greatest weakness, most career books tell you to select a strength and present it as a weakness such as I work too much, I just work and work and work. First of all using strength and presenting as a weakness is deceiving and secondly it misses the point of the question. You should choose a true weakness that you have actively working to overcome. For example I have had trouble in the past in planning and prioritizing, however I m taking steps to correct it, I just started using a pocket planner, show them the pocket planner.
Here is another important question, are you a team player? Almost everyone say yes to this question but its not just yes or no question; you need to provide behavioral examples to backup your answer. A sample answer, yes I m very much a team player, in fact I have had many opportunities in my work, school, and sports to develop my skills as a team player, give example s to backup your experiences and focus on openness to diversity of backgrounds. Talk about strength of the team above individual. Note that this question may be used as a lead question around how you handle conflict within the team.
